A microprocessor is a computer processor which contains the functions of any computer's central handling unit (CPU) on a single involved circuit (IC),[1] or for the most part a few involved circuits.[2] The microprocessor is a multipurpose, time clock driven, register based, digital-integrated circuit which allows binary data as source, processes it according to instructions stored in its memory, and provides results as outcome. Microprocessors contain both combinational logic and sequential digital reasoning. Microprocessors are powered by numbers and symbols displayed in the binary numeral system. The integration of a whole CPU onto a single chip or on a few potato chips greatly reduced the cost of processing electricity, increasing efficiency. Integrated circuit processors are produced in large numbers by highly automated processes producing a low per product cost. Single-chip processors increase stability as there are many fewer electronic connections to fail. As microprocessor designs progress, the price of making a chip (with smaller components built on the semiconductor chip the same size) generally continues the same.
Difference Between Microprocessor and Microcontroller
Before microprocessors, small computers have been built using racks of circuit boards numerous medium- and small-scale integrated circuits . Microprocessors put together this into one or a few large-scale ICs. Sustained increases in microprocessor capacity have since rendered other varieties of personal computers almost completely obsolete (see record of processing hardware), with one or more microprocessors found in everything from the smallest embedded systems and portable devices to the largest mainframes and supercomputers.
